Department of Philosophy welcomes David Builes and Lidal Dror

The Department of Philosophy is extremely pleased to announce that David Builes and Lidal Dror have joined the department starting this semester.

Assistant Professor David Builes, who specializes in metaphysics, epistemology and philosophy of science, comes to us from NYU where he was a 2020-2021 Bersoff Faculty Fellow.  He holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. and B.S. from Duke University. This semester he will be teaching the graduate course "Metaphysics: Time" (PHI 540).

Lidal Dror, who received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and his B.A. from the University of Warwick (UK) will be a post-doctoral fellow in the department for two years before joining the faculty as assistant professor in the 2023-2024 academic year. Dror’s areas of specialization are social and political philosophy, philosophy of race and epistemology.  His research focuses on the epistemological significance of oppression.
