Gabrielle Cole ’13 reaches new heights

July 6, 2023

In what is likely a first for a Department of Philosophy undergrad alumna, Gabrielle Cole (’13) is flying Black Hawk helicopters for the Illinois National Guard, where she holds the rank of second lieutenant and the title of Medevac Company Commander: UH-60M Black Hawk Pilot.

Currently a systems engineer with Northrop Grumman, Cole followed her undergraduate philosophy degree with a master’s degree in physics from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois – Chicago.  She joined the Illinois National Guard in 2017 and received her Army aviation wings in the spring of 2022.

While at Princeton, Cole served in many leadership roles – including that of Department of Philosophy student representative on the Course Allocation committee – and was a multiple title-winning All-American rower.  Read the full story in the Princeton Alumni Weekly.
