John Balfe is currently Managing Director at CMD Global Advisors, leading its Defense and Aerospace practice. Previously, he founded and headed Lazard’s Anglo-American defense and aerospace practice.  He began his investment banking career managing the Asia and financial products practice in the New York office of Robert Fleming.  

Since 2014, John is also an Adjunct Fellow at the Hudson Institute where he consults primarily to the Office of Net Assessment in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. 

John received an A.M. from Princeton University and his A.B. with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley.
