Instructor: Benjamin Morison [email protected]
Graduate T.A.: Lauren Miano [email protected]
This seminar explores one of the most influential and widely admired texts of the Western tradition: Plato’s Republic. From June 29th through August 2nd*, we will study this difficult and powerful text at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Our discussions will span a vast range of philosophical issues informed by the text’s central focus on the correct conception of justice. In addition to classroom learning, we will be expanding upon our understanding of the text through cultural excursions - visiting the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, taking walking tours of the city, and enjoying group dinners at local restaurants. Financial assistance is available. French language skills are not required.
*Exact start/end dates still tentative
